RNLI Visit

Yesterday we visited the RNLI station in Burnham, where the children had a fantastic time finding out about the RNLI and the fantastic job they do. They also had the chance to try on the protective clothing the crew wear and practice throwing the ropes that the crew throw to the people they are rescuing! The children asked some really interesting questions and behaved beautifully. Today we have had this lovely feedback from one of the crew members who worked with the children:

“Poplar class were the most polite and well behaved children that we have had ever had since I joined 2 years ago! I was really impressed with the level of interest the children showed and the quality of questions that they asked myself and Marc. The children were also very polite and listened well.
The girls were incredibly good at throwing the weighted bag (better than some of the RNLI Crew!) and I was very amused by the good sportsmanship shown when the girls beat the boys at this game!”
Poplar Class should be very proud of themselves!
Many of the children expressed an interest in joining the RNLI when they are older. They can join online as a Youth member where they will receive activity packs and be invited to events. If you are interested in this for your child, you can find out more information at
