The clues lead us to a magical egg!

Today our topic started with a mystery. We found a riddle and then a series of clues that we had to unscramble. We visited all of the places the clues lead us to and then we found a beautiful, mysterious egg. We think it might be a dragon’s egg so we are going to learn all about dragons in case the egg hatches! We will be learning all about dragons for the rest of this term and we will be creating presentation boards to show at the end of the topic. We are very excited!

Telling the Time

We are trying hard to learn to tell the time this week,  We have been using some websites to help us.

Try these…..

It’s also fun to see how many things you can do in one minute to get an idea about how long one minute is.  Estimate, for instance, how many times you can say your alphabet in one minute then time yourselves.

Fun with Literacy

Our theme this week has been looking at a book by Lauren Child called Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Book.  We have been writing clues to describe one of the characters from the book and had loads of messy fun presenting them in the style of Lauren Child (who wrote the Charlie and Lola stories).

We love to read!

Lots of children are reading several times a week and improving their fluency so well done.

One of the key objectives in year 2 is to be able to read 90 words a minute. Why not have a go- pick a familiar book and see if you can manage it!

Here are also some ideas of great books to share with your children.

Incredible Homework!

What a response to this week’s homework – to design a poster advertising next year’s carnival!  Mrs Clements and Mrs Paterson are so proud of the effort that has been put in at home.

Crina has an incredible eye for detail and has captured the carnival spirit in this picture.
