We learned which countries make up the United Kingdom and labelled our map. We then played a game, positioning someones photo on the map and guessing which country they were visiting. Perhaps you can play it at home with your teddy.
You can use the following link to look at the continents of the world.
Or why not sing the song!
We were challenged in teams to find as many adjectives as possible to describe things from the story ‘Penguin on holiday’. The children were really engaged with the task, cooperating well to think of and write adjectives on their paper. A fun time was had by all!
Why not try to describe every day things as you walk home!
Today we learned the story of Zacchaeus and how Jesus was a good friend to him, even though it may have been difficult. We then thought about the ways in which we are good friends.
We hug our friends, if they say it’s ok, to make them feel happy. We listen to each other and share.
This afternoon, Churchfield School was turned into an amazing Art Gallery with work displayed in the hall and classrooms. Many parents and visitors came to have a look at the astounding work produced by our children and I am sure the other teachers were as proud of them as I was. A big thank you to all who attended but even more so for the effort and enthusiasm of the children, our artists!
Here is a video clip of a poem, written and performed by Chestnut class after watching ‘Lily and the snowman’. Enjoy!

A Winter’s Night By Chestnut class
This week has been our ‘Winter Art’ week. The children have enjoyed thinking about the signs of winter. We have written instructions and a class poem, as well as creating various pieces of work including sculptures. We are looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible at our gallery showing tomorrow (Friday 6th January, from 3pm), but here is a glimpse of what we have been up to!
Wishing you all a happy and healthy new year!
I look forward to welcoming you all back tomorrow and just a reminder that your children will need to bring in their P.E. kits. Please ensure these are clearly named.
Years 1 and 2 will be performing their Christmas Nativity tomorrow (Monday 12th December) at 6pm. Please could children return to their classroom by 5.45pm. They should be wearing their Christmas party clothes for the play (NO DRESSING UP COSTUMES OR PYJAMAS.) Thank you, Mrs Legg.
Jinx has turned up in our classroom! We have written some letters to persuade him that he needs to go home to help Santa with the preparations and some of us have designed new toys for him to take back to the North Pole. I wonder if any will appear at Christmas!
