Amazing Art Week
Welcome back to school and happy new year!
Fir Class spent their first week back at school working really hard to create masterpieces for Art Week on the topic of Winter Lights. We picked ‘Cold Colours’ as our theme and set to work investigating. First we looked at what a cold colour is and then found how to make shades by mixing with white on a paper plate. These became snowflakes. We made stained-glass windows using cold colour tissue paper and pva glue to make winter skies and added a wintery silhouette before putting them up on the windows. We looked at the artwork of Georgia O’Keeffe, and American artist who painted flowers as though she was looking at them through a magnifying glass. We had some real flowers (chrysanthemums, gerberas and roses) to look at in the same way. Then we drew them on a big piece of paper and painted them in shades of one cold colour. It was very hard to draw something so big! Our artwork looked amazing when it was displayed and we are all really proud of it. If you came to visit the exhibition we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
